IRAP is thrilled to share the news that The Interpreters, an e-book about Afghan interpreters written by Ben Anderson of Vice, has been rated one of Longform’s Best of 2014. IRAP’s team of experts contributed to the development and writing of the e-book.
Anderson documents the critical role the interpreters played during the U.S. mission in Afghanistan, deploying powerful testimonies from the American soldiers who worked alongside them as well as from the interpreters themselves. He goes on to examine the risks and vulnerability faced by the thousands of interpreters who have been left behind as the United States withdraws from Afghanistan, their only option for recourse being the less than reliable Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program. The Interpreters tells a powerful story of America’s allies.
