About the Department

IRAP’s Development Department cultivates a growing network of individual, corporate, and institutional donors to secure funding and support for IRAP’s programs. IRAP’s Development Department is currently comprised of four team members, with two members in the New York office and two team members who work remotely.

Opportunity

IRAP is seeking an Assistant Director of Institutional Giving to work with a creative, dynamic, and growing legal and human rights organization. IRAP’s Board, Executive Director, and development team have spent much time over the past few years building a network of engaged donors and supporters. The organization’s prospect pool is growing and IRAP is engaged in outreach and cultivation efforts with corporate, individual, and foundation funders. At this time, the organization seeks a full-time Assistant Director of Institutional Giving with the energy and experience to assist the development team in cultivating and stewarding institutional relationships, principally by preparing and submitting institutional proposals and reports. The Assistant Director of Institutional Giving will be an integral part of the IRAP team, reporting to IRAP’s Director of Institutional Giving.

 

Responsibilities

Foundations:

  • Work with the Director of Institutional Giving to draft LOIs, grant proposals, and reports, including proposal budgets and financial reports.
  • Maintain annual grants calendar to track deadlines for proposals, reports, and other relationship outreach.
  • Conduct research and prepare profiles on institutional prospects and exercise independent judgment and initiative in identifying and cultivating additional institutional prospects.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Institutional Giving and development team on strategic planning for institutional portfolio.
  • Work with the Director of Institutional Giving to prepare the Executive Director and relevant program staff in advance of meetings with institutional donors and prospects, including by providing background information, meeting goals, key points and recommendations. 
  • Communicate across all IRAP departments and offices to understand potential funding needs, then identify and pursue funding opportunities to meet those needs.
  • Communicate with the various program departments on a regular basis to remain updated on program developments and to pitch or update funders on the organization’s work, accordingly.
  • Work with the Development Assistant to update and maintain institutional donor records in the Blackbaud database.

Communications:

  • Develop tailored, strategic communications to prospective funders and donors with specific programmatic interests.
  • Work with the Development Manager and Communications team to contribute to IRAP communications efforts, including quarterly newsletters, the Report to Supporters, materials for fundraising work, and ongoing development of messaging and branding.

Supervision:

  • No current direct reports, but potential to supervise administrative staff subject to department needs.

 Location

  • Open to a candidate who wishes to work from home and is legally eligible to work in the United States, with ability to travel, as needed, for meetings.

Qualifications

  • At least seven years of direct experience with grant writing and institutional fundraising.
  • Superb writing, communications, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work comfortably with major donor prospects, attorneys, and partner organizations with diverse cultural and social orientations.
  • Must be highly organized and motivated, able to multitask, manage a high-volume workload, and have excellent time management skills.
  • Must have a broad and strategic mindset, with creative aptitude and effective use of independent judgment.
  • Ability to be flexible in a fast-paced and high-pressure work environment.
  • Ability to take initiative and to develop solutions quickly and effectively.
  • Prior nonprofit/NGO employment is required.
  • Experience working with a CRM database management is a plus.
  • Microsoft Suite.

Opportunity

IRAP is seeking to hire a Staff Attorney to represent refugees seeking relocation through complementary pathways, including family reunification and humanitarian visas, with a focus on family reunification to Sweden. Some of this work will be conducted as part of IRAP’s partnership with UNHCR to provide legal assistance to refugees in East Africa and the MENA region seeking reunification with family members in Europe and the U.S. In addition to directly representing clients, the Staff Attorney will oversee the work of caseworkers and provide guidance to IRAP staff members and volunteers on complementary pathways cases. Casework will primarily be done remotely, as IRAP clients are located throughout the world. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual interested in refugee rights to be part of a growing, international legal aid organization. We anticipate that this position will be one of several hires in the department this year. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Representing refugees and asylum seekers (including conducting intake interviews and research, drafting submissions, and ensuring follow-up with adjudicating bodies) in the following areas: 
    • Direct representation of clients and collaboration with partner NGOs on family reunification cases to European countries and/or North America (with a focus on family reunification to Sweden). 
    • Humanitarian visa applications to countries in Europe and North America.

Opportunity

IRAP is seeking a staff attorney to engage in direct legal services and be a part of the growing U.S. Legal Department in our New York office. The staff attorney position will focus primarily on direct representation of refugees and other displaced people seeking admission or parole into the United States. The staff attorney will also be responsible for aiding in training, supporting, and advising pro bono teams of law firm attorneys and law students representing refugees, Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) applicants, and other vulnerable individuals. Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and counsel and direct representation to a diverse caseload of clients, including refugees seeking resettlement or parole, U.S. wartime allies seeking Special Immigrant Status, family members of refugees seeking family reunification in the U.S., refugees seeking relief from removal, and asylum-seekers seeking asylum, withholding or CAT protection.
  • Assist IRAP’s U.S. Legal Department with managing and mentoring IRAP law school chapters and law firm attorneys, including monitoring case progress, providing expert legal advice, reviewing legal submissions, and conducting trainings, to ensure high-quality representation by our pro bono teams.
  • Collaborate with the IRAP Litigation Department on any current and future high impact litigation efforts.

This role will exist within IRAP’s Operations Department, which is based in New York City and also has team members in Germany and Lebanon. IRAP’s Operations Department supports the work of our staff, interns, and volunteers around the world through IT, finance, human resources, and administrative avenues.

Opportunity

IRAP is growing our tech staff as we seek to hire a Technology Systems Manager to provide technical support for IRAP’s use of various software systems. Specifically, the role would serve as the primary system administrator for IRAP’s Microsoft Office Suite, Windows 10 admin work, and our donor database. Current tech staffers will provide training to our specific donor database work, which will include processing donations data, donor information management, routine database maintenance, and managing connections with other systems. This role will provide direct technical support to staff as needed, build technical solutions with existing/new systems, and assist in IRAP’s future technology decisions. Depending on the person’s experience/interest, there is also an opportunity to ensure compliance with GDPR regulations.

The Technology Systems Manager will report to the Director of Analytics, Technology, & Automation. The Technology Systems Manager will also work closely with the Development department and the Chief Operating Officer.

Responsibilities 

  • Manage our donor database: routine maintenance like data cleanup, import/exports, duplicate management, manage connections to third-party systems, and reconciliation. This may occupy up to 30% of the role.
  • Administration of Microsoft Office and possibly also Windows PCs. This may occupy 20% of the role.
  • Assist with other data, technology, and operations projects at IRAP as needed.
  • Manage existing vendor relationships, and at times, research new vendor options.
  • For interested candidates, assist with IRAP’s GDPR compliance, cybersecurity assessments, and incident response policies.

 

Location, Hours, and Duration

The position has no set location, but preference is for candidates available to work in an IRAP office in New York City; Berlin, Germany; Amman, Jordan; Beirut, Lebanon; remote work candidates will be considered. Upon starting work at IRAP, work would be remote until it is safe to work from the office. IRAP provides the necessary work equipment. The position is full-time (40 hrs/week).

Qualifications

Required

  • Experience with database management, especially with CRM or relational databases.
  • Knowledge of data gathering, cleaning, and transformation techniques.
  • Experience with Microsoft administration (e.g., Azure, Office Suite).
  • Ability to use discretion and appropriate safeguards with confidential data.
  • Customer service orientation that helps IRAP staff get the most out of our software, whether they are experts or novices.

Die*Der Technology Systems Manager*in wird an den Director of Analytics, Technology, & Automation berichten. Die*Der Technology Systems Manager*in wird auch eng mit der Entwicklungsabteilung und der Geschäftsführerin (Chief Operating Officer) zusammenarbeiten.

Verantwortlichkeiten

  • Verwaltung unserer Spenderdatenbank: Routinewartung wie Datenbereinigung, Import/Export, Verwaltung von Duplikaten, Verwaltung von Verbindungen zu Drittsystemen und Abgleich. Dies kann bis zu 30 % der Rolle einnehmen.
  • Administration von Microsoft Office und eventuell auch Windows-PCs. Dies kann bis zu 20 % der Rolle ausmachen.
  • Mithilfe bei anderen Daten-, Technologie- und Betriebsprojekten bei IRAP nach Bedarf.
  • Verwaltung bestehender Lieferantenbeziehungen und gelegentlich Recherche nach neuen Lieferantenoptionen.
  • Unterstützung interessierter Kandidat*innen bei der Einhaltung der DSGVO-Richtlinien von IRAP, bei Cybersecurity-Assessments und bei Richtlinien zur Reaktion auf Vorfälle.

Standort, Arbeitszeiten und Dauer

Diese Stelle hat keinen festen Standort, bevorzugt werden jedoch Kandidat*innen, die in einem IRAP-Büro in New York City, Berlin, Amman oder Beirut arbeiten können. Wenn Sie Ihre Arbeit bei IRAP beginnen, arbeiten Sie solange remote, bis es sicher ist, im Büro zu arbeiten. IRAP stellt die notwendige Arbeitsausrüstung zur Verfügung. Die Stelle ist eine Vollzeitstelle (40 Std./Woche).

Diese Stelle ist unbefristet.

Qualifikationen

Erforderlich

  • Erfahrung mit Datenbankmanagement, insbesondere mit CRM oder ähnlichen Datenbanken.
  • Kenntnisse in den Bereichen Datenerfassung, -bereinigung und -transformation.
  • Erfahrung mit der Verwaltung von Microsoft (z. B. Azure, Office Suite).
  • Fähigkeit, Diskretion und angemessene Sicherheitsvorkehrungen im Umgang mit vertraulichen Daten anzuwenden.
  • Kundenservice-Orientierung, die den IRAP-Mitarbeiter*innen hilft, das Beste aus unserer Software herauszuholen, unabhängig davon, ob sie Expert*innen oder Anfänger*innen sind.
  • Starke zwischenmenschliche und kommunikative Fähigkeiten.
  • Sehr gute Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift. Weitere Sprachen sind ein Plus.
  • Die*Der Kandidat*in muss über eine EU-Arbeitserlaubnis verfügen. 

Bevorzugt

  • Erfahrung mit der Einhaltung der DSGVO-Vorschriften.
  • Vertrautheit mit Programmier- und Datenabfragesprachen/-werkzeugen (z. B. Python, PHP, SQL, Excel).
  • Erfahrung mit der Bewertung und Implementierung von Cybersicherheit.

Vergütung

Das Jahresgehalt für die Stelle beträgt $65.000 – $95.000 entsprechend der Erfahrung und kann einem Tarifvertrag unterliegen.
