This October 8-9, for the seventh time since its inception, IRAP will welcome student leaders from across the United States to discuss solutions to the global refugee crisis with experts from the fields of government, academia, journalism, and the law.
This year, we are especially thrilled that Ambassador Ryan Crocker, the former U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Syria, Kuwait, and Lebanon, and the current dean of the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University, will give the keynote address. Larry Yungk, Senior Resettlement Officer at UNHCR, will address the impact of resettlement on the Syrian refugee crisis.
The students, who hail from our 29 law school chapters, will also have ample opportunity to train, network, and organize during the breakout sessions on legal and advocacy topics. At a client panel on The Refugee Experience, they will also be able to hear from and meet a number of former clients who were successfully resettled with IRAP’s help. In this way, the students will enjoy a hands-on learning experience and a direct understanding of their work’s impact, preparing them to become leaders in human rights law and advocacy.
IRAP would like to especially thank Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP for hosting the event.
