IRAP is currently hiring undergraduate interns to assist clients remotely with employment verification. Please share with anyone you think may be interested!
Role and Responsibilities
Undergraduate Interns will work directly with refugees in the Middle East and assist IRAP staff and attorneys. Many applicants for resettlement are required to present documentation of their employment on behalf of the United States in Iraq or Afghanistan. Iraqi and Afghan applicants regularly contact us for help obtaining verification of their employment.
Interns will work on refugee and SIV applicants’ cases to verify applicants’ employment. They will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience, including by:
- Communicating with Iraqi and Afghan clients to obtain documentation of their employment;
- Corresponding with U.S. employers of Iraqi and Afghan clients;
- Assisting U.S. employers to ensure that letters to the US Refugee Admissions Program and SIV program meet official requirements.
The internship is open to students in the fall semester. It requires a minimum of ten weeks and requires at least one day a week. This is an unpaid internship, though IRAP is willing to make arrangements for Interns to receive credit. Interns will work on site at IRAP’s NYC office. IRAP’s staff in the Middle East and in New York will jointly supervise the Interns.
