Today, NPR aired a story on the concerns of refugees and refugee advocates after the election, which has seen more divisive rhetoric on refugees that ever before. They fear that there will be a slowing down, if not a halt, of refugee resettlement to the United States under a Trump administration.
“Admission of refugees from war-torn areas of the world has been a key component of our foreign policy for decades and decades,” IRAP’s Director and Co-founder, Becca Heller, is quoted in the transcript. “To give that up now will seriously damage our credibility with our allies abroad.”
