Today, IRAP was featured in a Philadelphia Inquirer column about the need for the United States to uphold its obligations to Afghan allies. The piece discusses a recent change in the interpretation of the Afghan Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) legislation which, by retroactively increasing the service requirement for applicants from one year to two years, could block thousands of Afghans from winning protection. The column illustrates the real human impact of the policy change by telling the story of two applicants who are currently seeking safety in America.
