In honor of World Refugee Day, Becca Heller, IRAP’s Director, was invited to speak at Bad Robot Productions in Los Angeles for a “Good Talk”. Bad Robot, founded by acclaimed film director and producer J.J. Abrams, hosted Heller to discuss the global refugee crisis and IRAP’s response to President Trump’s Muslim and refugee ban executive order.
Moderated by J.J Abrams and Katie McGrath, Heller spoke about IRAP’s trajectory from a law school student organization to powerful advocacy organization challenging the President’s discriminatory policies against refugees in the Supreme Court and around the world. The “Good Talks” speaker series brings artists, entrepreneurs and social activists to help provoke conversations outside the realm of the entertainment industry. Previous guest speakers have included Lance Black, Geena Davis, Ava DuVernay, Joi Ito with MIT Media Lab fellows, Roy Choi and more.
