This weekend, IRAP held its annual National Student Summit in New York City, hosted by the offices of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. This year’s Summit was the most well-attended to date, with more than 130 students, attorneys, and supporters in attendance.
The Summit featured two keynote speakers. On Saturday, attendees heard from Vincent Cochetel, recently appointed the UNHCR’s Regional Refugee Coordinator for the Refugee Crisis in Europe. Sunday’s keynote speaker was Jon Finer, Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of State and an IRAP co-founder.
In addition to the keynote speakers, the program included an address by IRAP’s leadership team on the organization’s current initiatives; a presentation on resettlement and the Syrian crisis by Larry Yungk, a Senior Resettlement Officer with the UNHCR; a client panel featuring refugee perspectives from Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria; and several other presentations and workshops.
